The Trump administration has ramped up efforts to address illegal Indian immigrants. On February 3, a military aircraft left the U.S. for India, carrying a group of illegal immigrants.

This development comes amidst reports of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the White House. The U.S. has started the process of deporting illegal Indian immigrants, with a military aircraft dispatched to India. President Trump is using military resources to carry out his immigration policies, which include deploying additional troops to the U.S.-Mexico border, using military planes to deport immigrants, and opening military bases to house them.

According to Reuters, an anonymous U.S. official confirmed that a C-17 aircraft had left for India, with a journey expected to take about 24 hours. Trump had pledged to carry out the largest deportation in American history. Following this promise, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) compiled a list of 1.5 million illegal immigrants, including 18,000 Indians.

The Pentagon has been assisting in returning over 5,000 illegal immigrants detained by U.S. authorities in El Paso, Texas, San Diego, and California. So far, military planes have flown migrants to Guatemala, Peru, and Honduras.

PM Modi’s U.S. Visit in February!

In the midst of this deportation process, U.S. President Donald Trump recently spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They discussed ways to deepen cooperation and tackled several regional issues, including security in the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe.

Trump shared details of the phone call, stating that Modi would visit the White House in February. He emphasized the strong relationship between the two countries, saying, “We have a very good relationship with India.”

During the call, Trump mentioned discussions on increasing India’s purchase of U.S. security equipment and the importance of establishing fair trade between the two nations. The White House later released a statement highlighting the leaders’ shared commitment to strengthening the U.S.-India strategic partnership and advancing the Indo-Pacific Quad Partnership. Modi’s upcoming visit will also include a meeting with Quad leaders later this year in India.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the U.S. will take place on February 12 for a two-day trip, following his participation in the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris on February 10 and 11. This will be Modi’s first official visit to the U.S. during Trump’s second term, and he will be among the few foreign leaders to visit the White House within a few weeks of Trump’s re-election.
